This 2022 Eden Valley Shiraz is deep red with bright purple hues, displaying aromas of black cherry and plums with gentle spice. The palate shows great purity of fruit with fresh red berries, spice, and mocha. This wine is a fine expression of Eden Valley Shiraz, with a combination of power and finesse. No finning or filtration was used on these wines.

Winemaking

This Eden Valley Shiraz originates from our Pewsey Vale vineyard with an elevation of 550 metres. All fruits were destemmed, not crushed and tipped into open top fermenters. The fruits were then held at 10 - 15 degree Celsius for 3 days before allowing to warm and start fermentation. After 10 days on skins and pumped over twice daily, the wines were pressed into 10% new French oak puncheons and 90% seasoned French oak puncheons, where they matured for 15 months. No fining or filtration was used on this wine.

Winemaker's Notes

The Impressionist Shiraz is a great value wine, over-delivering in terms of price point without compromising on its regionality and varietal characteristics. Elegant yet complex, complimented with layers of flavours and depth.

Vintage Conditions

Another great year as we had a beautiful winter with plenty of rainfall, which meant a healthy and vibrant growing season. Hailstorms at the beginning of the vintage caused damages to our vineyard, resulting in lowered grape yields than previous years, however, the quality of the fruit was not affected. The cooler temperatures throughout the vintage made it ideal for whites. While the cooler temperature created a much longer vintage (with the reds being harvested in May) allowing the fruit to develop on the vines for longer, we’re seeing beautiful flavours with a lot of depth and concentration. This has undoubtedly created some stunning and elegant wines.
