Description

This single vineyard Grenache originates from our Armagh property in the Clare Valley from vines planted in 2001. Aromas of violets and field flowers give way to a palate layered with red fruits and complex savoury notes. An elegant, perfumed wine which is highly versatile, equally enjoyed as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a wide range of cuisines.

Winemaking

Selective harvested then destemmed into open top fermenters, leaving 20% whole bunch clusters, the balance of the fruit destemmed not crushed. The fruit was then fermented a low temperate to retain the freshness. After 10 days on skins and gently
plunged daily, the wine was pressed to seasoned French oak Puncheons where it matured for 10 months.

Winemaker's Notes

The Clare Valley climate is perfectly conditioned to produce beautiful varietal grenache. With more rainfall through the winter, and a cooler vintage with longer ripening periods, this Grenache is perfumed, elegant and textural.

Vintage Conditions

The 2023 vintage brought about just above-average rainfall, initiating a cool and wet season that led to delayed flowering compared to the usual timing. As the vintage approached, the cool weather persisted, with temperatures lower than average. Consequently, the ripening periods were significantly slower, enabling enhanced fruit development and acid retention within the vineyard. The combination of the colder and wetter season led to low yields but increased concentration, ultimately contributing to the wines' remarkable intensity.
