Winemaking

Harvested at the cool of night, the fruit was pressed directly off skins and cold-settled for 3 days. The juice was racked with some solids and allowed to start fermenting naturally. Towards the end of the fermentation process, the wine was put into Seasoned French oak puncheons where it underwent partial malolactic fermentation. Lees stirred for 4 months, the wine was then filtered and bottled.

The 2024 vintage in Eden Valley was marked by a long, mild growing season with cool nights—conditions that brought exceptional clarity and finesse to white varieties. While Riesling remains the region’s calling card, Chardonnay continues to emerge as a quiet achiever. Our 2024 Impressionist Chardonnay captures this evolution, balancing bright citrus and white stone fruit with taut acidity and subtle oak integration. It’s a wine of elegance and restraint, showcasing the cool-climate precision Eden Valley does best.

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 vintage brought about just above-average rainfall, initiating a cool and wet season that led to delayed flowering compared to the usual timing. As the vintage approached, the cool weather persisted, with temperatures lower than average. Consequently, the ripening periods were significantly slower, enabling enhanced fruit development and acid retention within the vineyard. The combination of the colder and wetter season resulted in above-average yields in the Clare Valley and increased concentration, ultimately contributing to the wines' remarkable intensity.
