Winemaking

This single vineyard Shiraz comes from our estate in Eden Valley after selecting the best parcel in the vineyard the fruits were handpicked and brought to the winery. Fermented in small open fermenters and hand plunged throughout fermentation to avoid using pumps. After fermentation the grapes were pressed using a basket press then put into a Rare ultra-fine limited edition French oak barrique for 18 months before bottling. No fining or filtration was used.

Created with the same care and reverence as a fine piece of art, The Masterpiece is meant to be enjoyed, savoured, and cherished. The finest parcels of the vineyard were meticulously handpicked and brought to the winery, allowing the fruit to shine and honouring the unique vineyards and sub-climates from which it originates. The result is a wine of remarkable purity and depth.

Vintage Conditions

The 2021 Vintage shaped up to be a very good year. The first break of the drought since 2020 brought much-needed rainfall throughout winter, perfect for our whites. The longer ripening period resulted in richer, more flavourful whites, with higher acidity levels and great depth of flavour and colour. Reds also benefited from the extra time on the vine, developing complex flavours and aromas.
