This lighter bodied wine is complex on the palate which displays red fruits and cherries with some pepper, whole-bunch ferment elements and a distinctly savoury edge. A well-balanced wine with a soft tannin structure and balanced acidity.

Winemaking

This 2023 Pinot Noir was crafted with precision and restraint. The fruit was fully destemmed without crushing, then gently transferred into open-top fermenters, retaining 30% wholebunch clusters for added complexity. The fruits were then held at 10-15 degree Celsius for 3 days before allowing to warm and startfermentation. After 8 days on skins and pumped over twice daily, the wines were pressed into 100% seasoned French oak puncheons, where it matured for 6 months. No fining or filtration was used on this wine.

This beautiful Eden Valley Pinot Noir has savoury textural elements and just a hint of oak influence. This brighter and more fruit-driven style of Pinot is truly unique and something you don’t see often.

Vintage Conditions

The 2023 vintage brought about just above-average rainfall, initiating a cool and wet season that led to delayed flowering compared to the usual timing. As the vintage approached, the cool weather persisted, with temperatures lower than average. Consequently, the ripening periods were significantly slower, enabling enhanced fruit development and acid retention within the vineyard. The combination of the colder and wetter season led to low yields but increased concentration, ultimately contributing to the wines' remarkable intensity.
